Concealer is one of my must have makeup products, like desert island must have. I prefer it to foundation and I think its great for people who have fairly good skin that don’t need foundation or younger people just starting out with makeup and don’t want to wear to much. Now onto the products…
1. Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer.
“Skin Tone adapting concealer Conceal signs of fatigue Highlight & Illuminate eye area Soft precision brush for the delicate under-eye area”
This is probably my favourite concealer out of all 5 for a few reasons. 1) it is creamy and not drying. 2) it can be layered to built up for more coverage without being cakey. 3) its really affordable at £5.99/$5.99. 4) its actually light enough for my pale skin. 5) the availability of this product as its sold on the high street, in supermarkets and quite a few online retailers as well. The downside for this concealer is that its only available in 3 shades which obviously is not going to cater for many skin tones.
2. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer.
“Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer gives you buildable, even coverage with a luminous, demi-matte finish. Ultra lightweight, this high-tech formula melds like a second skin effect and gives you full coverage in an instant.”
As you can see from above it has quite bold claims for covering everything without caking and I do agree that it is not cakey, however I have never tried layering more than 2 layers. There is a reason why its so popular with both youtubers and bloggers and that’s because it is good, its a great all-rounder, perfect for under eyes and blemishes. I love how creamy this concealer is, as I have quite dry skin and very dry under eyes. I also find that this concealer is very blendable which makes it look more natural and flawless. With 7 shades to choose from, I think this would suit a lot of skin tones. Theres one big downside to this concealer and that is the price at £17.50/$28 its rather pricey.
3. Barry M Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer
“Flawless Light Reflecting Concealer covers imperfections without caking.”
I dont think this has great coverage to be honest, as I dont think it would cover dark circles or spots, I know what your thinking, ‘why would you like a concealer that doesnt cover?!’. Well the reason I like this is because its very creamy and brightening. I either like to use this to make thicker products more creamy or to brighten darker concealers. This product is very affordable at £4.49 but is only available in three quite light shades, so isnt going to be that useful for darker skin tones but great for highlighting for pale to olive tones.
4. Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer.
This concealer claims to be “correcting concealer smoothes away dark circles and imperfections for a visibly rested and radiant look.”
I do agree that it has a natural demi matte finish and does cover well. I love that with this concealer a little really does go a long way but still has good coverage. My other favourite thing about this is that it is very creamy and hydrating which is great for anyone who has dry skin like myself. Down side is that its also only available in 3 shades, neither too light or dark so unless you have light-olive skin then it may not be for you. Also it retails for £7.99. If in america you can find it on Amazon and for UK and European readers can find it in stores.
5. Collection Lasting Perfection, Ultimate Wear Concealer.
“Conceals imperfections and blemishes for up to 16 hours. Water resistant and transfer proof.”
If you read a lot of blogs or watch a lot of youtube and have done for a while, chances are you have probably heard of this. Great for both under eyes and spots and is probably closest to the urban decay one, both formulation and applicator. It is creamy and full coverage with out being cakey. The best thing about this product is the price, at £4.19 its the cheapest in my top 5. Uk readers can buy this in high street stores and supermarkets and american and international readers can find it on Amazon.
I hope that if you are looking for a new concealer that you found this helpful and I’d love to know what your favourite concealer is or what you think I should try next. I’ve heard great things about the Nars radiant creamy concealer but not sure if its worth the splurge.
See you soon
